Helping our residents have a brighter future is the most important goal of our organization. We believe that individuals cannot rebuild their lives without a safe place to call home. We seek to support, empower, and provide high-quality resources to our residents in a safe and secure environment. Our success isn’t measured in terms of wealth or profit margin, but by the value we provide to those we serve. Our board members are trained by the Shared Housing Academy and the Sober Living Network.
Leo Pope
President
Leo was raised in a low-income family by a hard-working teenage mother and a non-productive alcoholic father. His family was subsidized by government programs and blessed by a church that encouraged and helped finance his education. Making school friends provided momentum and a pathway to a 46-year profession in Healthcare, changing his path from living off the system to becoming a productive contributing citizen. Now that he is retired, Leo desires to give to the community by supporting people struggling to get their lives on track so that they can lead happy, content, and productive lives.
Nancy Lee
Secretary
As a former Recreation Therapist and schoolteacher, Nancy is passionate about helping people to succeed and reach their potential. She has experience in long-term care, group, community, and home health settings and has taught third grade through senior high.
Nancy writes true inspirational stories she shares on her blog, InspirationalLee.com, and loves to hike, explore, read, write, and walk her three small, mixed-breed dogs. She lives in a small town in the Mohawk Valley region of New York State and will manage A ROOM FOR YOU operations in Herkimer and Oneida counties.
Mariah Lee
Vice President
Mariah has experience in Property Management and real estate working in various departments in those fields. She loves helping residents find homes suited for their needs and developing secure relationships with them. She loves to volunteer her time at the seniors living home joining their weekly sing a long and trivia. Her heart goes out to those in need of safe/ secure housing which is why she loves being part of A ROOM FOR YOU. Mariah lives in Florida and is passionate about reaching out to her community.
Sharon Barros
Treasurer
Sharon worked in small business operations with her husband Bill, as CFO of their companies. She also volunteered in event management for local kart clubs doing scoring, registration, and holding offices.
She is active in real estate, including management of residential rental properties.
Growing up, Sharon was blessed with parents who set an example of volunteering and helping others. She is volunteering her skills to help manage A ROOM FOR YOU.
Her hobbies include reading, cooking, gardening, and travel.
Bill Barros
Board Member
Bill worked in the healthcare industry for 32 years, with 18 years as a business owner/manager. He has been a landlord managing both industrial and residential properties. Now retired, he hopes to spend his time helping others who are facing difficulties. He has a passion for teaching people life skills to help them become their best selves. As a Vietnam vet, Bill has great respect for others who have served in the military and wants to help veterans who are struggling with trauma or addictions. In his spare time, Bill enjoys grilling, building and repairing things, and maintaining the fruit trees at his home.
